Creating a New Backup Device

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

Before you can create backups of your MIIS database, you must create a new backup device in SQL Server 2000 by using SQL Server Enterprise Manager. The physical backup device (a tape drive, for example) must already be installed and configured before you perform this procedure.

To create a new backup device by using SQL Server Enterprise Manager

  1. In Microsoft SQL Server, click Enterprise Manager.

  2. Expand SQL Server, and then expand Management.

  3. Right-click Backup, and then click New Backup Device.

  4. In the Name box, enter the name of the device, and then click OK.

Note
