Description: The Remote Registry service enables remote users to modify registry settings on the local computer, provided the remote users have the required administrative credentials. The service is primarily used by remote administrators and for performance counters.
If this service is stopped, the registry on the local computer can only be modified locally.
If this service is disabled, it will not affect registry operations on the local computer, but other computers or devices can no longer connect to the local computer’s registry.
Available on: Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition; Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition; Windows Server 2003, Datacenter Edition and Windows Server 2003, Web Edition.
