Important

Authorization Manager is available for use in the following versions of Windows: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8. It is deprecated as of Windows Server 2012 R2 and may be removed in subsequent versions.

A role can include other roles. For example, the role of "shapes" might include the role of "square" along with the role of "triangle" and the role of "circle".

The following table describes the UI elements for this dialog box.

Item Description

Select the role definitions to add

Lists the roles defined in the authorization store.

To include a defined role, select the check box beside an existing role definition.

Note
A role cannot be added to itself, either directly or indirectly. If you try to add a role to itself, you will receive an error message.
