NPS RADIUS Client

Applies To: Windows Server 2008

A network access server (NAS) is a device that provides some level of access to a larger network. A NAS using a RADIUS infrastructure is also a RADIUS client, sending connection requests and accounting messages to a RADIUS server for authentication, authorization, and accounting.

Client computers, such as wireless laptop computers and other computers running client operating systems, are not RADIUS clients.

Aspects

The following is a list of all aspects that are part of this managed entity:

Name Description

RADIUS Client Communication

Network Policy Server (NPS) exchanges RADIUS messages with RADIUS clients. RADIUS messages exchanged between NPS and RADIUS clients must comply with the RADIUS protocol specification or NPS might not be able to process connection requests.

RADIUS Client Configuration

RADIUS clients, also called network access servers, must be configured correctly in Network Policy Server (NPS). RADIUS clients send connection requests and accounting messages to NPS for authentication, authorization, and accounting.
