Applies To: Windows Server 2008

The HTTP Service depends on the namespace reservation database and is available when Https.sys is running and the database is uncorrupted.

Event Details

Product: Windows Operating System
ID: 15009
Source: Microsoft-Windows-HttpEvent
Version: 6.0
Symbolic Name: EVENT_HTTP_NAMESPACE_INIT_FAILED
Message: An error occurred while initializing namespace reservations. The error status code is contained within the returned data.

Resolve

Restart the computer or reinstall the operating system

The namespace reservation database is corrupted. Restarting the computer will free up system memory and might solve the problem. If the problem persists, the registry database is corrupted. In this case, reinstall the operating system or restore it to a previously backed-up version. Changing registry settings is not recommended because services or applications might not work as expected.

Verify

To verify that the HTTP Service is running:

  1. Click Start, point to All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, click Run as administrator, and then click Continue.
  2. Type net start http.
  3. If the service is started, the command will display the following output: The requested service has already been started.
