Reconfigure Inbox folder permissions

Check that the Inbox folder exists (so that faxes can be received) and that it has the correct permissions. If needed, adjust the permissions. By default, the Inbox folder is at: %systemdrive%\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows NT\MSFax\Inbox.

To confirm the presence of the Inbox folder and permissions:

  1. To open Windows Explorer, right-click Start, and then click Explore.
  2. In the left pane, click the disk that contains the operating system.
  3. On the toolbar, click Organize, click Folder and Search Options, click the View tab, and then click Show Hidden Files and Folders. Close the dialog box.
  4. In Windows Explorer, navigate to %systemdrive%\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows NT\MSFax\Inbox.
  5. Right-click the Inbox folder, click Properties, and then click the Security tab.
  6. Ensure that the folder has Write permissions for the Network Service account.
