FrequencyCorrectRate Entry

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W32Time\Config

Data type Range Default value

REG_DWORD

4

Description

Affects the rate at which the time service corrects the clock. This value, in units equal to the reciprocal of the rate at which the clock is corrected, is multiplied by the number of clock ticks in 64 seconds, to produce the base gain in the phase-locked loop (PLL) of the clock correction algorithm.

Activation Method

To make changes to this entry effective, at the command line, type:

w32tm /config /update

Note

  • A smaller value makes the time service more responsive to time changes, but if this value is too small, then the clock time is erratic. A larger value makes the system time more stable, but if the value is too large, then the time service waits a long time before synchronizing the clock.
