Command Processor Subkey

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

Command Processor

HKCU\Software\Microsoft

Description

The Command Processor subkey stores user preferences for the command processor (Cmd.exe).

Change Method

You can change the values of the entries in this subkey by using Command Processor (Cmd.exe), but only for the duration of that Cmd.exe's execution. For all other changes, you must edit the registry directly.

Activation Method

If you make changes to the value of the entries in this subkey by editing the registry directly, you must restart Cmd.exe to make the changes effective.

Notes

  • Entries in the Command Processor subkey can also appear in HKLM. If both appear, in most cases the values in HKCU take precedence over the values in HKLM. However, the HKLM Autorun entry executes before the HKCU Autorun entry. Command-line settings entered in Cmd.exe take precedence over registry settings.
