Network Topologies

An organization’s network topology reflects its business needs. In some organizations, business needs result in users working in a few large locations that are well connected to one another. Alternatively, other organizations have users in many small, satellite locations connected to one of a few, well-connected hub sites. Such network topologies usually are one of three general types: ring, hub and spoke, and complex. These network topologies are illustrated in Figure 3.2.
