Backup Data Summary

By default, all system information and drives on the server are included in the backup. The Backup Configuration Wizard displays a summary of what is currently included and excluded in the backup.

If any of the folders in the list are marked Not Calculated, you can calculate the folder size.

To calculate folder sizes

  • In the Backup Data Summary window, click Calculate folder size. The calculation takes a few minutes.

On the Backup Data Summary page, you can also exclude folders from the backup. You might want to exclude folders if:

  • You have limited space on your backup media.
  • You have a limited amount of time in which to complete your backup.

There are some files that are required by the system and necessary for a successful, quick, and easy backup. These files cannot be excluded from the backup.

Note

If you do choose to exclude folders from your backup, consider excluding the Client Applications folder. If you need to restore your system, you can reinstall the client applications by using Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel.

To exclude folders from the backup

  1. Click Exclude folders.
  2. In the dialog box that appears, click Add folder.
  3. Browse to the folder that you want to exclude, and then click OK.

Note

You cannot exclude CD drives, floppy disk drives, or mapped network drives from the backup.

Note

All of the files and subfolders contained within the folders you choose to exclude from the backup are not available for restore after a system failure.

  1. To remove folders from the list of excluded items, select the folder in the Exclude folders dialog box, and then click Remove.
