Back up Windows Small Business Server

To complete this procedure, you must be logged on as a member of the Domain Admins security group.

  1. Open Server Management. To open Server Management, click Start, and then click Server Management.
  2. In the console tree, click Backup.
  3. If you have already configured backup settings and want to back up the computer running Windows Small Business Server immediately, click Backup Now.
    If you have not yet configured backup settings: In the details pane, click Configure Backup. The Backup Configuration Wizard appears.
  4. Complete the wizard by specifying:
    • A backup location, either hard disk or tape
    • The day(s) and time to back up
    • An on-site user to change the backup tapes (if backing up to tape)
    • The amount of disk space reserved for previous versions of files and deleted files
    • The amount of space allocated to store deleted e-mail messages

Note

Windows Small Business Server Backup can only span multiple tapes if the drive supports robotic tape changes.
