Distributing Rights-protected Content

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

When you publish content, you apply rights and conditions to unencrypted content, apply rights policy to the content, and then distribute the content. Distribution may mean that you have to send the content to another user internally, send the content to an internal server, and send the content to a trusted external business partner, and so on.

An author can distribute rights-protected content while they are connected to the corporate network (online) or locally, with no corporate network connection (offline). Authors can also specify "Anyone" in a publishing license to allow any user who has a valid rights account certificate to request a use license for a piece of rights-protected content.
