RMS Logging Listener Service

Updated: June 1, 2008

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

The Logging Listener service is installed by RMS Setup. It runs on both the root cluster and licensing-only clusters. Each RMS Web service logs all requests and responses that it receives and sends, and then transmits the data to the logging message queue by using Message Queuing. The logging listener service then transfers this data from the message queue to the logging database for the cluster.

You can turn on and off logging from the Administration Web site. Doing this stops the Web services from performing logging, and turns off the Logging Listener service.
