Updated: June 1, 2008

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

Revocation is implemented by using rights policy templates and revocation lists. Each rights policy template specifies its own revocation policy, which includes the revocation list that it requires. For more information about working with rights policy templates, see “Managing Rights Policy Templates” later in this subject. For step-by-step instructions on creating and editing rights policy templates, see “Configure Rights Policy Templates” later in this subject.

This topic describes important considerations for defining revocation policies for the organization. It provides step-by-step instructions about how to implement revocation, as well as how to create and deploy revocation lists. It also describes how to revoke server licensor certificates, which are a special case.
