Lock Your Workstation

Creating a Lock Workstation shortcut in the Quick Launch bar:

  1. Go to C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch.

  2. Right-click in the right pane and go to New-->Shortcut.

  3. Enter (without the quotes): "rundll32.exe

    user32.dll,LockWorkStation".

  4. Name the shortcut "Lock Workstation".

When you step away from your computer, simply click on the shortcut and your computer will be locked.

As an alternative for Windows XP users, you can also press the Windows Key + L, and this will lock your workstation too.
