Use an Ipconfig Batch File to Reduce Headaches
From: William Thomas
Most admins have a lot of users who must visit other sites with different DHCP servers. This can be an annoyance in WINNT and W2k to have to ipconfig everytime the user comes in and out of the office. To save yourself the trouble, have the user do it themselves. Here is how.
Create a batch file with the following example commands:
c: cd\ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew exit
Now save it as a file on their desktop and instruct them to click on it when they enter a different site and restart their computer if need be. They will be able to log on and take off the local DHCP scope with out a hitch. It has saved me a lot of time and aggravation.
