Introduction

This self-paced, hypertext markup language (HTML)-based course (extracted Zak979.exe) provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to install and configure the Zero Administration Kit (ZAK) for Microsoft® Windows NT® Workstation operating system version 4.0.

At Course Completion

At the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • Set up a central distribution point for ZAK, Windows NT Workstation, and Microsoft Office 97 files.

  • Configure a ZAK client for AppStation and TaskStation mode.

  • Use system polices to customize a user's desktop and restrict access to the local file system.

  • Perform an unattended installation of Windows NT Workstation and Office 97 to ZAK clients.

Prerequisites

  • Successful completion of the following courses:

    • Course 803: Administering Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, Course 753: Microsoft Windows NT Network Administration Training self-paced training, or equivalent knowledge

    • Course 922: Supporting Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Core Technologies, Course 694: Microsoft Windows NT Technical Support Training self-paced training, or experience configuring system policies for a computer running Windows NT Workstation 4.0

  • Experience installing and configuring Microsoft Internet Explorer version 3.02

  • Experience installing and configuring Microsoft Office 97

The course materials, lectures, and lab exercises are in English. To benefit fully from our instruction, students need an understanding of the English language and completion of the prerequisites.

Course Materials and Software

This course is licensed for use by a single user on a single computer. Multiuser usage is prohibited. The HTML-based self-paced course is contained on CD and all content can be printed.
