Change Queue Labels

Applies To: Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012

A queue label is a string with a maximum length of 124 Unicode characters that you can use to identify the queue. For example, queues that accept messages that a specific application sends might all have the label "Messages from my application."

To change queue labels

  1. Open Computer Management.

  2. In the console tree, right-click the queue.

    Where?

    • Computer Management/Services and Applications/Message Queuing/ YourQueueFolder (Public Queues or Private Queues)/ YourQueue
  3. Click Properties .

  4. On the General page, in Label , type the new label for the queue.

Additional considerations

  • To open Computer Management on Windows® 7, click Start , right-click Computer , and then click Manage .

  • To open Computer Management on Windows Server® 2008 R2, click Start , click All Programs , click Administrative Tools , and then click Computer Management .
