Import or Export Settings for a TS Gateway Server

Applies To: Windows Server 2008

To simplify administration and configuration for multiple TS Gateway servers, you can use TS Gateway Manager to import or export policy and configuration settings for a TS Gateway server.

Important

If you have configured Terminal Services connection authorization policies (TS CAPs) for Network Access Protection (NAP), when you export policy and configuration settings for a TS Gateway server, the NAP attributes for the TS CAPs will not be exported. For information about how to configure NAP attributes for TS CAPs, see "Steps for Configuring the TS Gateway NAP Scenario" in the TS Gateway Server Step-by-Step Setup Guide (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=79605).

Membership in the local Administrators group, or equivalent, on the TS Gateway server that you plan to configure, is the minimum required to complete this procedure. Review details about using the appropriate accounts and group memberships at Local and Domain Default Groups (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=83477).

To import or export settings for a TS Gateway server

  1. Open TS Gateway Manager.

  2. In the TS Gateway Manager console tree, right-click the local TS Gateway server, and then do one of the following:

    • To export settings for the TS Gateway server, click Export policy and configuration settings, specify a name and location for the file, and then click OK. A message will appear to indicate that the settings have been successfully exported to the location that you have specified. Click OK. If the directory that you specify does not already exist, or if a file with the same name already exists, appropriate messages will appear to allow you to create the directory, or to overwrite the existing file, respectively.

    • To import settings for a TS Gateway server, click Import policy and configuration settings, specify the file that you want to import, and then click OK. A message will appear stating that importing the file will cause existing policy and configuration settings for the TS Gateway server to be overwritten. Click Yes. After the settings have been imported, another message will appear to indicate that the settings have been successfully imported from the location that you have specified. Click OK.
