Deploying Windows Server 2008 Regional Domains

Updated: April 11, 2008

Applies To: Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2

Deploying Windows Server® 2008 regional domains involves creating new geographically based child domains under the Active Directory® Domain Services (AD DS) forest root domain. Deploying new Windows Server 2008 regional domains makes it possible for you to create a new domain structure. You can also improve your existing domain structure to take advantage of available bandwidth and optimize replication traffic.

This guide is intended for use by system administrators and system engineers. It provides detailed guidance for deploying AD DS regional domains. For a seamless deployment experience, use the checklists that are provided in this guide and complete the tasks in them in the order in which they are presented.
