Windows Firewall: dfs

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

For root servers that are not domain controllers, servers acting as link targets, and client computers acting as link targets, add TCP ports 137, 139, and 445 to the Windows Firewall exceptions list. Add UDP ports 137, 138, and 445 to the Windows Firewall exceptions list.

For domain controllers, add TCP ports 135, 137, 139, 389, and 445 to the Windows Firewall exceptions list. Add UDP ports 137, 138, 389, and 445 to the Windows Firewall exceptions list.

No Windows Firewall configuration is required on a DFS client for the DFS client to access a root server or link target.
