Description: The TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper service provides support for the NetBIOS over TCP/IP (NetBT) service and NetBIOS name resolution for clients on your network, enabling users to share files, print, and log on to the network. The TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper service provides support for the NetBT service by performing DNS name resolution and pinging a set of IP addresses that return a list of accessible IP addresses.

If this service is stopped or disabled, NetBT, RDR, SRV, Net Logon, and Messenger service clients might not be able to share files or printers, or log on to computers.

Available on: Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition; Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition; Windows Server 2003, Datacenter Edition and Windows Server 2003, Web Edition
