Description

Defines the maximum number of simultaneous pulses that the primary domain controller (PDC) sends to backup domain controllers (BDCs).

This entry limits the workload that sending and responding to pulses places on the PDC. The PDC must be able to support the number of concurrent replication remote procedure calls stored in the value of this entry.

Increasing the value of this entry increases the load on the PDC. Decreasing the value increases the time that a domain with a large number of BDCs requires to replicate a change in the Security Accounts Manager (SAM) or Local Security Authority (LSA) databases to all of the backup controllers.

This entry does not exist in the registry by default. You can add it by using the registry editor Regedit.exe.

Note

  • In Windows Server 2003, the Net Logon service manages replication only if the replication involves servers running Windows NT 4.0 or earlier. Net Logon for Windows Server 2003 does not manage replication between two servers running Windows Server 2003.
