Passport authentication

Passport authentication is a centralized service provided by Microsoft that offers single logon and core profile services for member Web sites. This benefits Web site users by making it unnecessary to log on again to access additional protected resources or Web sites. You can make your business Web site compatible with Passport authentication and authorization by using the Passport authentication provider.

The Microsoft .NET Passport Home Web page provides information for:

  • Consumers, who want to manage their .NET Passports and change their passwords.

  • Businesses, which can license and use .NET Passport on their Web sites.

Web site administrators can use the Microsoft Passport Manager Administration utility to change registry settings that affect the default behavior of the Passport Manager object.
