Description

Directs the system to wait for the remote copy of the roaming user profile to load, even if the profile is loading slowly. Also, the system waits for the remote copy when the user is notified about a slow connection but does not respond in the time allowed.

Value Meaning

0

Use the local copy. When a remote profile is slow to load, the system loads the local copy of the roaming user profile. The local copy is also used when the user is consulted (as set in the entry SlowLinkUIEnabled) but does not respond in the time allowed (as set in the Winlogon\ProfileDlgTimeOut entry).

1

The policy is enabled. The system waits for the remote copy of the user profile to load.

Waiting for the remote profile is appropriate when a user moves between computers frequently and the local copy of the profile is not always current. Using the local copy is desirable when logging on quickly is a priority.

Note

  • This entry can be superseded by a Group Policy setting included in Windows Server 2003. When the Wait for remote user profile policy setting is enabled, the system ignores this entry. The setting of the Wait for remote user profile policy setting is stored in the value of SlowLinkProfileDefault in the Policies subkey. If the slow link feature does not operate as expected, check to see if a policy setting is in effect.
