Add, edit, or delete a task

About Tasks list

Use the Tasks list to assign a task to a member of your team, specify its due date and priority, and indicate its status and progress. You can easily view all tasks or a selection of tasks.

In addition to viewing all the tasks, the following predefined views are available on the Tasks page:

  • My Tasks   Tasks that are assigned to you

  • Active Tasks   Tasks that are not yet complete

  • By Assigned To   Tasks sorted by the name of the person they're assigned to

Do one of the following:

To add a task

  1. On the top link bar, click Lists.

  2. On the Lists page, click Tasks.

  3. At the top of the list, click New Item.

  4. In the Title box, type a heading for the task. This field is required.

  5. Enter information in the remaining boxes as desired.

    In the Start Date and Due Date boxes, click the calendar Cc768353.calendr(en-us,TechNet.10).gif and select a date, and then select a time in the hour and minutes boxes.

  6. If you want to save the task in the list, click Save and Close.

    If you want to cancel creating the task, click Go back to list.

Edit or delete a task

  1. On the top link bar, click Lists.

  2. On the Lists page, click Tasks.

  3. Click the task you want to edit or delete.

  4. Do one of the following:

    • To modify the task information, click Edit Item. Modify the information, and click Save and Close.

    • To delete the task, click Delete Item.
