Check for Deployment Planning Data

To install Windows EBS, the Installation Wizard requires the data that is created when you complete the Windows Essential Business Server Planning Wizard:

  • If you are joining Windows EBS to an existing Active Directory domain, the Installation Wizard queries Active Directory to find the data that is collected by the Planning Wizard.

  • If you are creating a new Active Directory forest, you must provide the XML data file you saved when you completed the Planning Wizard. In the Installation Wizard, you can retrieve the data file from a USB drive or other portable storage media.

If the data cannot be retrieved, the Installation Wizard stops. You must complete the Planning Wizard before the Installation Wizard can continue. If the data from the Planning Wizard is more than 30 days old, you must run the Planning Wizard again to collect more recent data.

Note

You need to run the Windows Essential Business Server Preparation Wizard to scan your network before you can run the Planning Wizard. The Planning Wizard requires a recent health scan before it can start.
