Configure Connection Settings for the Management Service (IIS 7)

Configure connection settings to specify how the management service accepts remote connections from clients.

Note

Only server administrators who are using IIS Manager on the local computer can configure the management service in IIS 7.

Prerequisites

For information about the levels at which you can perform this procedure, and the modules, handlers, and permissions that are required to perform this procedure, see Management Service Feature Requirements (IIS 7).

To configure connection settings for the management service

  1. Open IIS Manager. For information about opening IIS Manager, see Open IIS Manager (IIS 7).

  2. In the Connections pane, click the server node in the tree.

  3. In Features View, double-click Management Service.

  4. On the Management Service page, under Connections, configure an IPv4 or IPv6 address that clients use to connect to the server. If you do not want to use a specific IP address, you can leave All Unassigned in the IP address box.

  5. In the Port box, type the port number that clients use to connect to the server, or leave the default value.

  6. From the SSL certificate list, select the SSL certificate that the service uses to encrypt data sent between the server and clients. To add a new certificate, use the Server Certificates feature in IIS Manager.

  7. Select Log requests to and type a physical path when you want the server to log connection requests that are made to the server.

  8. In the Actions pane, click Apply and then click Start.
