Change the Message Queuing Service Account

Use this procedure to change the Message Queuing service account.

You can use this procedure to change the Message Queuing service account. This is done to change the security context under which the Message Queuing service runs.

Membership in the local Administrators group, or equivalent, is the minimum required to complete this procedure.

To change the Message Queuing service account

  1. Click Start, point to Run, type compmgmt.msc, and press ENTER to display the Computer Management MMC console.

  2. In the console tree, click Services.

    • Computer Management/Services and Applications/Services
  3. In the details pane, double-click Message Queuing.

  4. On the Log On page, click This account, and then click Browse. In Name, type the name of the user account, and then click OK.

  5. In Password, type the account password.

  6. In Confirm Password, type the account password again.

Additional considerations

  • This procedure is also applicable to the Message Queuing Triggers service. In this case, in Step 3, double-click Message Queuing Triggers in the details pane.

  • Running the Message Queuing service under user accounts is not supported on domain controllers.
