Fsutil: volume

Fsutil: volume

Manages a volume. Dismounts a volume or queries to see how much free space is available on a disk.

Syntax

fsutil volume [diskfree] VolumePathname

fsutil volume [dismount] VolumePathname

Parameters
  • diskfree
    Queries the free space of a volume.
  • dismount
    Dismounts a volume.
  • VolumePathname
    Specifies the drive letter (followed by a colon).
Examples

To dismount a volume on drive C, type:

fsutil volume dismount C:

To query the free space of a volume on drive C, type:

fsutil volume diskfree C:
