A backward compatible task is a Task Scheduler 1.0 task that is used in the Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, and Windows 2000 operating systems. A task will run if all of its conditions are met after the task is triggered to start.  You can monitor a task by viewing the task's history and status.

Resolve

Restart the task

Restart the task if the task's configuration allows it to be restarted.

To restart a task:

1. Click the Start button and type **Task Scheduler **in the Start Search box.

2. Select the Task Scheduler program to start Task Scheduler.

3. Select the task that you want to run by locating the task in the task folder hierarchy.

4. On the Actions menu click Run. You can also click Run in the Actions pane.

Verify

To verify that the task status was updated:

1. Open Task Scheduler.

2. Locate the task you want to update in the task folder hierarchy, and select the task.

3. Click the History tab for the task and trace the exection flow of the task. Verify that the task's status was updated.
