Remove or uninstall DHCP

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

To remove or uninstall DHCP

  1. If necessary, stop the DHCP server on this computer.

For more information, see Related Topics.

  2. Open Windows Components Wizard.

  3. Under Components, scroll to and click Networking Services.

  4. Click Details.

  5. In Subcomponents of Networking Services, scroll to Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and clear the check box.

Notes

  • To open the Windows Components Wizard, click Start, click Control Panel, double-click Add or Remove programs, and then click Add/Remove Windows Components.

  • When you remove DHCP, all DHCP files are deleted from the server except program files that are in use. When the system is restarted, these files are removed as well.

  • If you do not stop the DHCP Server service in step 1, this procedure only deletes the DHCP server registry entries.

Information about functional differences

  • Your server might function differently based on the version and edition of the operating system that is installed, your account permissions, and your menu settings. For more information, see Viewing Help on the Web.
