Set the cost on a site link object

Applies To: Windows Server 2003 R2

  1. Open ADAM ADSI Edit.

  2. Connect and bind to the configuration directory partition of an ADAM instance in the configuration set in which the site link object that you want to modify resides.

  3. In the console tree, double-click the configuration directory partition, double-click the sites container (CN=Sites), and then double-click the Inter-Site Transports container (CN=Inter-Site Transports).

  4. In the console tree, click the IP container (CN=IP).

  5. In the details pane, right-click the site link for which you want to set the cost, and then click Properties.

  6. In the Properties dialog box, in Attributes, click cost, and then click Edit.

  7. In Value, type a cost for the site link.

Notes

  • To open the ADAM ADSI Edit snap-in, click Start, point to All Programs, point to ADAM, and then click ADAM ADSI Edit.

  • The default cost for a site link is 100.

  • The cost of a site link represents the relative cost of using the site link for replication. The higher the cost of a site link, the lower the preference in ADAM for using the site link for replication.
