Stores a list of IP addresses of Windows Internet Name Service (WINS) servers. The addresses are specified with dotted decimals (for example, 192.168.0.1), are separated by spaces, and are ordered according to preference.
To change the value of this entry, use Network Connections in Control Panel. Right-click Local Area Connection (or the name of another connection, if appropriate), click Properties, click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and then click the Properties button. On the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties page, click the Advanced button, then click the WINS tab. This entry is associated with the addresses shown under WINS addresses, in order of use. To modify the list, use the Add, Edit, or Remove buttons. Select an address and click the up or down arrow button to the right of the text box to move the address up or down in the list.
Changes made to this entry through the Properties page for the interface take effect immediately.
Notes
If this entry contains one or more valid addresses, then this entry overrides any and all addresses specified in the entry DHCPNameServerList.
This entry replaces the registry entries NameServer and NameServerBackup that were used in Windows NT 4.0.
