Log On As: NetworkService

Description: The Performance Logs and Alerts service collects performance data from local or remote computers based on preconfigured schedule parameters, and then writes the data to a log or triggers an alert. The Performance Logs and Alerts service starts and stops each named performance data collection based on the information contained in the named log collection setting. This service runs only if at least one collection is scheduled.

If this service is stopped or disabled, performance information is not collected. Also, currently running data collections and future scheduled collections will not occur.

Available on: Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition; Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition; Windows Server 2003, Datacenter Edition and Windows Server 2003, Web Edition.

Installed through: Default operating system installation

Startup type: Manual
