Increase the availability of a namespace

To ensure that the namespace and its folders are still available if a server fails, you can add multiple namespace servers (for domain-based namespaces) and multiple folder targets for each folder. You can optionally use DFS Replication to keep the contents of the folder targets synchronized.

The procedures for increasing the availability of a namespace are as follows:

  1. Add namespace servers to a domain-based namespace

  2. Add folder targets

  3. Replicate folder targets using DFS Replication (Optional)

Note

To increase the availability of a stand-alone namespace, you must use the Cluster Administrator snap-in to create a stand-alone namespace on a server cluster.
