Modifying an Existing DNS Server

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

You may need to modify or update the configuration of your Domain Name System (DNS) servers for various reasons. For example, you may need to change the name-checking method of a DNS server to allow the DNS server to resolve non–Request for Comments (RFC)–compliant names. In addition, you may need to modify or update a DNS server in the process of troubleshooting or optimizing it.
