The CurrentControlSet subkey does not actually contain a control set. The subkeys and entries that appear in the CurrentControlSet subkey are the contents of one of the numbered control sets, such as ControlSet001. The control set that appears in CurrentControlSet is selected by the system at startup and is identified by the value of the Current entry in the Select subkey.

For example, if the value of the Current entry is 1, then the contents of ControlSet001 appear in CurrentControlSet.
