Client Access License Editions

Client access licenses (CALs) for Windows EBS are available in two editions:

• Standard Edition   Provides access to network services such as e-mail, shared folders, print services, and remote access.

• Premium Edition   Provides access to network services and the Premium Technologies, such as Microsoft SQL Server.

If you have purchased Windows EBS Standard, you need only Standard Edition CALs to provide access to network resources.

If you have purchased Windows EBS Premium, you can use and manage both CAL editions. For example, you can assign Standard Edition CALs to users and devices that require access only to network services. You must assign Premium Edition CALs to those users and devices that access the Premium Technologies in Windows EBS Premium.
