Create a Quota Template

You create a new quota template in the Create Quota Template dialog box.

To create a quota template

  1. Open the Microsoft File Server Resources Manager (FSRM). (To open the FSRM, click Start, click Administrative Tools, and then click File Server Resource Manager).

  2. In the navigation pane, click Quota Management, and then click Quota Templates.

  3. In the Actions pane, click Create Quota Template. The Create Quota Template dialog box opens.

  4. For information about each of the properties in the dialog box, see the Create Quota Template section. When you finish, click OK to save your changes.

Use these instructions to create a quota template from an existing quota. When you click Create Template from Quota in the Action pane, the Create Quota Template dialog box opens.

Item Details

Copy properties from quota template (optional)

You can copy all the properties from an existing quota template, and then edit the properties to create a new quota template. To copy all properties from a quota template, select the quota template from the list box, and then click Copy.

Template Name

Type the name of the new quota template in this text box.

Label (optional)

Type a label in this text box (if you want to include a label).

Limit

Type a number for the maximum allowable size of the volume or folder in this text box. The list box lists available units that you can select for the quota (KB, MB, GB, TB).

Hard quota

Prohibits users from exceeding the quota limit.

Soft quota

Allows users to exceed the quota limit, but notifications are generated when they do.

Notification thresholds

Summarizes notifications that are generated when usage reaches predefined levels.

Add

Opens the Add Threshold dialog box to configure a new notification threshold.

Edit

Opens the Threshold Properties dialog box and displays the properties of the selected notification threshold.

For information about adding or changing the default thresholds, see Add or Edit Notification Thresholds.

Remove

Removes the selected notification threshold.
