Edit Quota Template Properties

You can view and edit the limits and notification thresholds for a quota template in the Quota Template Properties dialog box.

To view or edit quota template properties

  1. Open the Microsoft File Server Resources Manager (FSRM). (To open the FSRM, click Start, click Administrative Tools, and then click File Server Resource Manager).

  2. In the navigation pane, click Quota Management, and then click Quota Templates.

  3. In the results pane, click the quota template where you want to view or change the properties.

  4. In the Actions pane, click Edit Template Properties.

  5. For information about each of the properties in the dialog box, see the Quota Template Properties section. When you finish, click OK to save your changes.

Item Details

Copy properties from quota template (optional)

Displays the name of the template in the text box if the properties were copied from an existing quota template. To copy all properties from a quota template or to use a different quota template, select the quota template from the list box, and then click Copy.

Template Name

Displays the name of the template that you are editing or viewing.

Label (optional)

Displays the quota label, if one was provided. To add or change the label, type a label name in the text box.

Limit

Displays the maximum allowable size of the volume or folder. To change the limit, type a new number in the text box. The list box lists available units that you can select for the quota (KB, MB, GB, TB).

Hard quota

Prohibits users from exceeding the quota limit.

Soft quota

Allows users to exceed the quota limit, but notifications are generated when they do.

Notification thresholds

Summarizes notifications that are generated when usage reaches predefined levels.

Add

Opens the Add Threshold dialog box to configure a new notification threshold.

Edit

Opens the Threshold Properties dialog box and displays the properties of the selected notification threshold.

Remove

Removes the selected notification threshold.
