Importing Connection Settings into a Custom Package

By preconfiguring connection settings and then importing them to a custom package by using the Internet Explorer Customization wizard, you can affect how a user connects to the Internet or intranet. You can import connection settings from your computer on the Connection Settings screen of the Customization wizard. To see which settings you can import, on the Tools menu in Internet Explorer, click Internet Options , and then click the Connections tab.

Internet Explorer 5 supports multiple connection settings. When you create connection settings, you import the settings for all connections in your configuration, including proxy servers, automatic configuration, and proxy automatic detection.

Stage 4 of the Internet Explorer Customization wizard enables you to determine whether to import your connection settings.

  1. In Stage 4 of the Internet Explorer Customization wizard, click Next until the Connection Settings screen appears.

  2. Select the options that you want.

Note Corporate administrators also have the option of clearing any existing settings on their users' computers. This ensures that no incorrect settings remain in users' configurations.
