Microsoft

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies

Description

The Microsoft subkey stores the entries created when you configure a Group Policy related to a Microsoft product. Group Policy creates and maintains these entries, and the product program reads and interprets them.

This subkey stores entries that apply to all users of the computer. The system adds these entries when you enable (and, for some policies, when you disable) a policy in the Computer Configuration folder in Group Policy.

The Microsoft subkey in HKEY_CURRENT_USER stores policy-related entries that are configured separately for each user. The system adds these entries when you enable (and, for some policies, when you disable) a policy in the User Configuration folder in Group Policy.

Change method

To add, delete, or change the entries in this subkey, use Group Policy.
