Description

Stores a customized list of secondary servers to which the Domain Name System (DNS) sends zone transfers. Servers are represented in this list by their IP addresses.

Secondary DNS servers can request zone transfers from master DNS servers. You can configure master DNS servers to send zone transfers only to the secondary servers that appear in this list. DNS rejects zone transfer requests from servers that do not appear in this list.

This entry stores the list of servers specified on the Zone Transfer tab in the DNS console. This list is used only when the value of SecureSecondaries is 2.

Change method

To change the value of this entry, use the DNS console. Right-click the name of a secondary zone, click Properties, and then click the Zone Transfer tab. To delete a server from the list, select the server name, and then click Remove. You should not change this value by editing the registry directly.

Activation method

DNS reads its registry entries only when it starts. You can change entries while the DNS server is running by using the DNS console. If you change entries by editing the registry, the changes are not effective until you restart the DNS server.

Note Image Note

This entry is not replicated to other DNS servers authoritative for this zone.

This entry is effective only when it appears in the registry of a master DNS server.

Windows 2000 does not add this entry to the registry. You can add it by editing the registry or by using a program that edits the registry.
