Configuration

Applies To: Windows HPC Server 2008

In Configuration, you can configure the HPC cluster, create node and job templates, and manage HPC cluster users.

Node templates define the necessary tasks for adding and configuring compute nodes in your cluster.

Job templates define sets of customized job submission policies to limit the types of jobs coming into the cluster, and also facilitate job submission by providing default values for job properties.

Note

You can configure your HPC cluster for high availability by installing the head node in the context of a failover cluster. If the server that is acting as the head node fails, the other server in the failover cluster automatically begins acting as the head node (through a process known as failover). For more information about running an HPC cluster with failover clustering, see the Configuring Failover Clustering in Windows HPC Server 2008 Step-by-Step Guide (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=123894).
