Determines how often the Net Logon service performs the following operations:
Checks for password expirations on secure channels.
Checks for idle secure channels.
Sends a mailslot message to an external trust relationship in which a domain controller has not been discovered. (Domain controllers only.)
Attempts to add the domain's NetBIOS name, until successful. (Primary domain controllers only.)
The default value is optimal for most systems. However, in rare cases, such as when a trusted domain is connected by an expensive connection, you might add this entry to increase the time between operations.
Windows 2000 does not add this entry to the registry. You can add it by editing the registry or by using a program that edits the registry.
In Windows NT 4.0 and earlier, the interval between subsequent registration of DNS names (stored in the DnsRefreshInterval entry) was based on the ScavengeInterval entry. This is not the case in Windows 2000.
