Description

Defines a slow connection for roaming user profiles for computers connected to IP networks.

This entry stores the setting of the Connection speed spin box in the Slow network connection timeout for user profiles Group Policy. Group Policy adds this entry to the registry when you enable the policy. If you disable the policy or set it to Not Configured, Group Policy deletes this entry from the registry, and the system behaves as though the value is 0x1F4.

If the server on which the user's roaming user profile resides takes longer to respond than the threshold set by this entry, then the system defines the connection to the profile as slow.

This entry together with the related entries define the system's response when roaming user profiles are slow to load.

Change method

To change the value of this entry, use Group Policy. This entry corresponds to the Connection speed spin box in the Slow network connection timeout for user profiles Group Policy (Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Logon).

Note

For non-IP computers, use the SlowLinkTimeOut entry.

If the value of SlowLinkDetectEnabled is 1, this entry is ignored. Also, if the value of DeleteRoamingCache entry is 1, there is no local copy of the roaming profile to load when the system detects a slow connection.

Tip

Consider increasing this value for clients using Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) service-assigned addresses or for computers accessing profiles across dial-up connections.
