View or change the homegroup password

You can view or change the homegroup password from the Change HomeGroup settings page.

To open the HomeGroup settings page

  1. Open the Windows Home Server 2011 Dashboard.

  2. Click General settings. The Server Settings page appears.

  3. Click HomeGroup.

To view the homegroup password

  1. On the Change HomeGroup settings page, click View homegroup password.

To change the homegroup password

  1. On the Change HomeGroup settings page, click Change homegroup password. The current homegroup password appears.

  2. Click Change password.

  3. Review the information on the next page of the wizard, and then click Change the password.

  4. Type a new password for the homegroup, and then click Save password.

  5. Write down the homegroup password, and then go to each homegroup computer and update the homegroup password.
