Documenting your NAP deployment can help you set clear goals and measure whether these goals are met. Consider documenting the following:

  • Goals. Analyze the goals for your NAP deployment. Be sure to include any background pertinent to your goal-setting. Follow up later to see if these goals were met.

  • Enforcement method. Explain which enforcement method was selected and why.

  • Benefits. List the benefits you expect from your NAP deployment. Follow up later to see if these benefits were realized.

  • Risks. Identify and list the potential risks. Document issues as they occur and describe how they were resolved.

  • Server placement. Document your capacity management and redundancy plans.

  • Compliance strategy. State your current plan and any future plans, if known. Be sure to include your expectations for compliance and which exemptions you have implemented. Describe how the compliance strategy will help you meet your overall goals.

  • Staging. Document your NAP staging timeline and any changes that are required to the timeline. Include compliance results from NAP reports at each stage.

  • Lessons learned. Record key concepts and outcomes.
