Create an Exclusion Range of Addresses

Applies To: Windows Server 2008

You can use this procedure to exclude an address from a scope.

Membership in the Administrators or DHCP Administrators group is the minimum required to complete this procedure.

To exclude an address from a scope

  1. Open the DHCP console.

  2. In the console tree, click Address Pool.

  3. On the Action menu, click New Exclusion Range.

  4. In the Add Exclusion dialog box, in Start IP address, type the address that you want to exclude from this scope.

    To exclude a range of more than one IP address, type an IP address in End IP address.

  5. Click Add.

Additional considerations

Addresses that are excluded from the scope are not offered by the DHCP server to clients obtaining leases from this scope.
